About the Materials
Slate is a natural metamorphic rock formed 500 million years ago. The Stone Mill slates are newly quarried in the United States and hand cut to size at the Stone Mill factory in Connecticut. This plaque is available as a vertical or horizontal sign with an optional bracket for either.
About the Finishes
Because slate is a natural product of the earth, there are features and color variations inherent in the rock. These variations enhance the natural beauty and unique character of each slate piece. Each plaque is highlighted with durable enamels intended to last as long as the slate plaque itself. The following color combinations are available:
- Black Slate with Gold Text
- Black Slate with White Text
- Green Slate with Black Text
- Green Slate with White Text
About the Personalization
The fine-grained nature of slate is a perfect medium for carving. Each design, border or personalized line of text are deeply carved into the slate. The three dimensional shadowing is very effective. You can choose from eight (8) designs for your plaque or choose no design at all. This plaque holds a maximum of four lines on one or both sides with the following characters (including spaces) allotted per line. Please note that we give recommended character sizes and lengths below.
- Line reads “THE” in 1” characters
- Line Two holds up to fifteen 1.5” characters
- Line Three holds up to five 2.5” or fifteen 1.25” characters
- Line Four holds up to fifteen 1.25” characters
