The mailbox dimensions are 19.6"W x 13"H x 20.375"D, which is large enough to hold multiple days worth of mail, magazines, and catalogs, and larger than the typical mailbox. Most Mailbox Posts today are installed over a 4" x 4" post, the Whitehall Post Mount Mailboxes are no exception. Installation requires a 4" x 4" x 48" post to be buried 30" in the ground, and to have 18" sticking out. This post then slips over that post and attaches via hardware which is included. This makes for a much easier installation, especially if you already have an existing 4" x 4" in the ground. In addition, this will put the mailbox at the correct height, according to USPS Postal Regulations.
