About the Materials
Slate is a natural metamorphic rock formed 500 million years ago. The Stone Mill slates are newly quarried in the United States and hand cut to size at the Stone Mill factory in Connecticut.
About the Finishes
Because slate is a natural product of the earth, there are features and color variations inherent in the rock. These variations enhance the natural beauty and unique character of each slate piece. Each plaque is highlighted with durable enamels intended to last as long as the slate plaque itself. The following color combinations are available:

- Green Slate with Black Text
- Green Slate with White Text
About the Personalization
The fine-grained nature of slate is a perfect medium for carving. Each design, border or personalized line of text are deeply carved into the slate. The three dimensional shadowing is very effective. This plaque holds one line of text with a maximum of three 2.75”H characters (including spaces). Please note this is a recommended character size and length. Custom character sizes, text lengths and even fonts are also available upon request.
